Guest Article from Sarah Brooks, Recreation and Events Coordinator for Town of Palisade.
Temperatures are getting warmer, the sun is shining, and the blossoms are popping up on the trees. Palisade Parks & Recreation wants to encourage everyone to get outdoors and enjoy a Day in the Life of Palisade though a self-guided photo scavenger hunt. The hunt will take participants around the orchards, through the vine lands, into favorite downtown establishments, popular spring events, into the public parks, and outside to some of the best outdoor recreation sites. Not to worry, this is not all in one day’s work. Anyone ages 21 and over can participate, all that is needed is a camera, smart phone, or tablet.
Participants will have a month to complete the scavenger hunt or check off as many items as they can from April 4th though May 9th. All photo submissions are due by 4:00 PM on May 9th, which can be submitted via email, through Facebook, Google Drive, or with 4×6 prints. To wrap up the scavenger hunt, participants will gather at 13Brix on Thursday, May 12th for a fun social reception featuring appetizers, cash bar, slideshow of the best photos submitted, and the presentation of awards. Prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories ranging from landscape portraits, food and beverage, special events, wildlife, human connection, downtown showcase, bikes and bike related, and miscellaneous.
Some of the prizes up for grabs include Bluegrass & Roots tickets, gift baskets of Palisade Goods, gift certificates to local restaurants and watering holes, wine tote, comparative analysis, and a handful of others. Compete on your own for a fee of $14.00 or as a team of 2 for $20.00; however, the teams will be required to split any prizes that are won. This fee includes the scavenger hunt and appetizers at the reception on May 12th.
To enroll, contact Palisade Parks and Recreation at 464-5602 or email Sarah Brooks at sbrooks@townofpalisade.org, once the registration fee is submitted, participants will receive the official hunt list and rules. This is a great way to get out and explore Palisade if you are new to the area or show off your LOVE for Palisade as a longtime resident or frequent visitor.
