If you’re a ‘maniac’, love to dance and enjoy good drama head you cannot miss this adaptation of “Footloose” on January 14, 15 & 16th, 2016 by the Performing Arts Department of Palisade High School.

The original movie was released in 1984 but the movie turned into a pop culture sensation and launched the careers of many of the actors. The story is about a newcomer, Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon) who just moved from Chicago, is in shock when he discovers the small Midwestern town he now calls home has made dancing and rock music illegal. As he struggles to fit in, Ren faces an uphill battle to change things. With the help of his new friend, Willard Hewitt (Christopher Penn), and defiant teen Ariel Moore (Lori Singer), he might loosen up this conservative town. But Ariel’s influential father, Reverend Shaw Moore (John Lithgow), stands in the way.

Sarah VanBenschoten, PHS theater teacher, and Matt Doty, PHS choir director are directing this adaptation of that great movie of the 80’s. Palisade High School drama students will play the roles to our enjoyment on stage in Palisade. The students are hard at work rehearsing and looking forward to a successful presentation.

Relive the 80’s in January at Palisade High School with these talented kids and if there is dancing in the aisles that will be OK. For more information or to buy tickets call Palisade High School at 970-254-4800.
