PALISADE BLUEGRASS & ROOTS FESTIVAL

Festival Tickets: Have you bought your tickets to the 10th Annual Bluegrass & Roots Festival?  Music starts on Friday, June 8th and will go through Sunday, June 10th.  Buy single day tickets, three day tickets, or general camping is also available.  Visit https://www.palisademusic.com/ for a complete schedule of performers, to volunteer, or to buy tickets.  Early Bird ticket pricing is available until May 31. Looking to volunteer?  We still have spaces available to volunteer for the festival this year.

Sage Creations Lavender Farm Tour: Experience local agriculture in Palisade with a Lavender Farm Tour at Sage Creations Organic Farm on Friday, June 8th from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. Participants will meet at the front gates of Riverbend Park at 9:30 AM for shuttle service to the farm. Take a guided tour of the lavender fields and green houses, see a distillation demonstration, enjoy culinary tastings, and learn about the benefits of lavender and how to grow it. SUP Yoga: Get into Festival grove with Yoga on a Paddle Board.  Enjoy a fun workout, scenic views of Palisade, and cool off at the same time on Friday, June 8th from at 3:00 PM on the East Pond in Riverbend.  Wear clothes you can get wet; go barefoot or wear sandals with a heal strap.  To participate in this activity, participants MUST have either a Friday festival ticket for a 3-Day ticket. Registration is $24.00 (includes all gear + class) or $10.00 (for the class only, bring your own board). COMMUNITY EVENTS

Palisade Plunge Fundraiser: Kick off summer on Thursday, May 24th with an event that will raise funds for the Palisade Plunge Project.  The event will take place downtown Palisade from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM and will feature live music by Bluegrass Offenders, Clunker Bike Race, and a drink tent complete with many native Palisade favorites (Palisade Brewery, Talon Wine Brands, & Talbott’s Cider).  The Clunker Race will start at 6:00 PM, participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes and dress in costume to race a mile down Main Street for bragging rights and cool swag.  Race entries are all donation based.  Door prize drawings will also be given away throughout the night in the Plaza.  The Palisade Café will be donating 25% of the day’s proceeds to the project as well.  All proceeds from drink and snack sales and race entries will go towards the Palisade Plunge.

Palisade Sunday Farmers Market: Kick off produce season with the Palisade Sunday Market on June 10th from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM downtown Palisade.  Enjoy a great lineup of music at the season opener, featuring some of the bands from the Bluegrass Fest.

PALISADE POOL

Opening Day Splash: Dive into summer on Saturday, May 26.  The pool will open for lap swim at 12:00 PM and public swim from 1:00 PM-7:30 PM.  Enjoy an opening day special of $2.50 per person for all ages.

Palisade Swim Team: Swim Season is here!  Advanced swimmers, ages 7-17 are invited to join swim team, all participants must be able to swim 50 yards continuously and must be proficient in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.  Practices will begin on June 5th at 8:30 AM and practices will be held every Tues & Thurs through Aug 2nd.  Perspective team members are welcome to try out at no cost on Thursday, May 31 at 8:30 AM.  Registration is $105.00 for the full season or $58.00 per month, full season payments must be received by June 7th.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

Little Explorers (Ages 3-6): Spend the morning exploring nature at Riverbend Park; learning about nature through scavenger hunts, nature walks, and crafts.  Session 1 will begin on June 12th and will run on Tuesday &Thursday at 10:00 AM from June 12-June 21.  Participants should meet at the Lions Club Shelter at Riverbend Park and bring water.  Registration is $20.00 per child, enroll by June 8.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Mica Mine Field Trip (Ages 7-11): Youth are invited to take a fun day trip to the Mica Mine on Wednesday, June 13 from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM for a morning of exploring local geography and geology, then the group will head back to Palisade to look at the collected samples in a micro scope, and finally they will top the day off at the Palisade Pool.  Participants should wear sturdy shoes, pack water, lunch, sun screen, and swim gear.  Registration is $18.00, enroll by June 8.

Wrestling Camp (Ages 7-10): Kids new to wrestling and those that have been in the sport for a short time will benefit from this camp taught by CMU athletes; learning the basics of the sport, proper techniques, and body awareness.  Camp will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM-11:30 AM at the Palisade Gym starting June 19-June 28.  Registration is $26.00 per child, enroll by June 14.

Science Camp (ages 6-10): Kids will have fun with hands-on experiments ranging from STEM to chemistry. Camp will run MondayThursday (July 16-July 19from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Palisade Community Center.  The camp includes a field trip to the Math and Science Center on the final day. Participants should pack water, lunch, sunscreen, and swim gear. ADULT PROGRAMS

Gray Gourmet: Meet new friends or catch up with old friends each week at the Gray Gourmet meal, every Tuesday at the Palisade Community Center.  Doors open at 11:00 AM and the meal is served at 12:00 PM.  Participants are welcome to come at 11:30 AM for dominoes or cards.  Advanced reservation is required, to reserve a seat call 243-9844 X1.  Suggested donation of $3.50 for diners 60+ or $8.75 for all diners under age 60.

History Walk: Enjoy an interpretive history walk of downtown Palisade on Friday, June 1st, learning about the early founders and 100 years of business in Palisade.  Participants should meet at 10:00 AM at the Kiosk across the street from the Post Office on Kluge.  Registration is $5.00 per person, and all proceeds go to the Palisade Historical Society.  RSVP by May 31.

DIY Class: Looking for a creative escape?  Join Palisade Rec for a class on Wed, June 13 at 1:00 PM to make Garden Markers, adding fun décor and organization to your garden.  Class will be held in the Rec Office, located next door to Town Hall.  Registration is $10.00 and it includes all supplies, enroll by June 11.

GET OUTDOORS (ADULTS)

Summer Hiking Series:  The first hike of the summer series will take place on Monday, June 4th with a 3 mile hike along Time Machine in Grand Junction.  The group will meet earlier in the summer, at 7:20 AM.  Registration is$4.00 per person by June 1 or $5.00 at the door.  Participants should pack water, snacks, sunscreen, and dress in layers.  Dogs Welcome!

Grand Mesa Water Tour: Get outdoors with a hike and tour of Flowing Park Reservoir with local water commissioner on Monday, June 25th.  This interpretive tour will showcase water law, local water supply, measuring water and how to take water reads.  After the tour, plan to hike 4-5 miles near Flowing Park.  The group will meet at 7:00 AM at Palisade Town Hall for the shuttle.  Participants should wear sturdy shoes, dress in layers, pack water, lunch, bug spray, and sun screen.  Registration is $8.00 per person, enroll by June 20th.  Dogs Welcome!
