Sarah Brooks, Recreation and Events Coordinator for the Town of Palisade, has announced the activities for the rest of the summer weeks. “There is plenty of fun left this summer in Palisade”says Brooks. Stay active in Palisade with a variety of programs and events, the current activity guide has a schedule through the first week of September.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Movie in the Park: July is National Park Month. Come show off your love for parks with games and Movie in the Park on Wednesday, July 15th 6:00PM-10:00PM at Riverbend Park. The event will kick off at 6:00PM with games, bring a picnic dinner and enjoy Palisade’s best park, then at dusk the movie will begin. Canyon View Church will be showing “How to train your Dragon”.
Back to School Beach Party: Enjoy the last Friday of Summer with a fun Beach Party at the Palisade Pool on Friday, July 31st from 5:00PM-9:00PM. This event is open to youth and families and will feature games, contests, prizes, and food. Advance admission is $3.00, paid by July 30th or $5.00 at the door. All season pass holders will receive $1.00 off admission prices. Contact Palisade Recreation at 464-5602 for more info.
PALISADE POOL
Half off Season Passes: The summer is half way through for many D51 students, but the Palisade Pool will remain open even after school starts from 4-8PM Mon-Friday, regular schedule on weekends, and longer lunch hour lap swim. We want to offer anyone who has not yet invested in a season pass Half off all family and individual passes. Extended Season Schedule will begin August 3rd, check out the complete schedule in the activity guide.
Learn to Swim Splash & Play Package (Ages 3-13): In August Palisade Pool will offer a special AM Lesson session, which is geared toward home school students, preschool age kids, and any other youth that are not on the traditional D51 school schedule. Lessons will run Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:00AM-12:00PM from Aug 3-Aug 19. Each class will consist of a 30 swim lesson followed by play time in the pool. Registration is $34.00 per child, enroll by July 30th.
Support the Palisade Platypi: Palisade Swim Team will hold their first home meet of the season on Wednesday, July 29th at the Palisade Pool. Come support your local youth swim team and cheer on the Platypi. The meet starts at 6:30PM, no entry fee will be charged. We are looking for a few volunteers to help with timing, if you are interested contact Sarah Brooks. Due to the swim meet, the pool will close to the public at 5:00PM.

Group Fitness: Check out our weekly classes, all classes are held at the Palisade Community Center and open to ages 14+.
Mondays Core Strength & Tone 5:30PM $4 drop in or $30 for 10 punch pass
Tuesdays Yoga 6:00PM $7 drop in or $30 for 6 punch pass
Wednesdays Core Strength & Tone 10:00 AM $4 drop in or $30 for 10 punch pass

Yoga & Wine: Due to low attendance numbers in the Summer Yoga & Wine Series, the remainder of the series will be canceled, but we will look into doing it during the fall season. If we have enough people interested in the August sessions then we will try to find an instructor. Please email Sarah if you would like to see the series continue.
SUP Yoga: Do you like Yoga? Do you like water? Combine the two with SUP Yoga, a class on stand up paddle boards in Riverbend Park on the ponds. Classes are held Tuesdays 8:00AM-9:30AM July 14th, July 21st, and July 28th in Riverbend Park on the east pond. Registration is $30.00 per class including gear or $15.00 per class if you have your own paddle board.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Zany Games (Ages 4-7): Youth are invited to start off their day with fun and active games in the park. The next session will run Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00AM- 9:45AM from July 14th-July 23rd at Peach Bowl Park, participants should meet at the West shelter next to the playground. Registration is $12.00, enroll by July 9th.
Karate (Ages 5-12): The last session of summer Karate will begin on Tuesday, August 4th and will run through August 27th. Classes run Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30PM- 6:30PM at the Karate studio on Troyer Ave. Registration is $40.00, enroll by August 3rd.
Youth Fishing (ages 6-11): Palisade Rec is offering a second fishing class, which will run during early release times in August. Classes will run every Wednesday in August, Aug 5-Aug 26 from 1:50PM-4:30PM. Palisade Rec staff will pick up Taylor students from school and walk them down to Riverbend Park for the fishing program. All gear is provided, but participants should bring a water bottle and a snack. Registration is $28.00, enroll by July 31st.
Tumbling Session 2 (Ages 2-4): If you missed out on the first tumbling session, the second session will run Thursdays, August 6th-August 27th. We had to make a slight time change to accommodate the instructors class schedule at CMU. The new time is now 11:30AM-12:30PM at the Palisade Gym. Registration is $18.00, enroll by Aug 3rd.
Field Day (All Ages): Enjoy an afternoon in the park with family and friends playing a variety of games such as volleyball, yard games, bocce ball, relay races, and more. Kids under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. The activity will run on Friday, August 7th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Peach Bowl Park. Registration is $3.00 by August 5th and $5.00 after August 5th. Adults are invited to join in the fun too!
ADULT PROGRAMS
Monday AM Hikes: Join us on Monday, July 20th , participants will meet at Town Hall at 7:30AM for a 2.6 mile hike in Whitewater on the East Creek trail. Registration is $4.00, enroll by July 16th.
Intro to SUP (ages 14+): Enjoy some fun on the water with introduction to Stand Up Paddle Board classes, which will be held in Riverbend Park on the East Pond Tuesdays in July at 6:00PM. Classes will be held on July 14th, July 21st, and July 28th, Registration is $20.00 per session and includes all gear, space is limited so register in advance.
Tech Table: Bring your smart device to the Clifton Library on Tuesday, July 14th from 5:30PM-7:30PM for tips and tricks on smart phone apps and book reservation on the reader. No registration required, and FREE to all wanting to attend.
Smart Phone Photography: Learn how to take great photos with your smart phone or tablet, photo editing, filters, and how to share photos on Instagram and Facebook from your phone. Class will begin in Riverbend Park at 6:00PM on Wednesday, June 22nd and then move over to the Fire Station to use wifi. Registration is $8.00 per person or $10.00 per couple, enroll by July 16th.
