Gray Gourmet, Mesa County’s senior nutrition program, will present three special lunches with guest speakers for Palisade area seniors.

The first in the series will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd, at the Palisade Community Center (120 W. 8th Street). Doors open at 11:30 am, with lunch served at 12 noon. The suggested donation for the meal is $3.50 for seniors over age 60.

The March 3rd event will include a presentation by the Palisade Historical Society. The program will include information about the upcoming 100th birthday of the Grand Valley Diversion Dam located eight miles east of Palisade in De Beque Canyon, a “mobile museum” with photos and information about the iconic “Roller Dam,” and a music video about the importance of the dam to life in the Grand Valley. Attendees will also get to view a video of historical pictures entitled “Palisade in 1904” created by the Palisade Historical Society.

The lunch programs are presented in cooperation with the Palisade Recreation Department. Gray Gourmet will offer the programs the first Tuesday of the month in March (March 3), April (April 7), and May (May 5). The events are featured in the town’s Recreation Activity Guide.

“We are very excited to partner with the Town of Palisade and offer our nutritious and affordable lunch to Palisade seniors,” offered Meal Site Coordinator Sheli Apodaca. “Any senior over age 60 can come and contribute at the suggested donation or less. No senior age 60 and over will be turned away because of inability to pay,” she added.
