Gray Gourmet, Mesa County’s senior nutrition program, hosts a luncheon program for area seniors on Tuesday, April 7 at the Palisade Community Center (120 W. 8th Street). Doors open at 11:30 am, with lunch served at 12 noon with the presentation on diet and nutrition to follow. The suggested donation for the lunch is $3.50 for seniors over age 60. Reservations to attend are required by calling the Gray Gourmet office at (970) 243-9844 x1.
The April 7th event will feature a slide presentation by Dr. Dustin Morrison of Palisade Family Health & Chiropractic. Dr. Morrison will discuss how good nutrition and lifestyle choices can keep you, and your digestive track, happy and feeling good. According to Morrison, “one of the fundamental facets of health is an optimally functioning digestive system.” His integrative approach combines chiropractic care and nutrition counseling to help people achieve their overall health goals.
The Gray Gourmet lunch program is presented in cooperation with the Palisade Recreation Department and is the second in a series of three special lunches being offered this spring. “We are very excited to partner with the Town of Palisade and offer our nutritious and affordable lunch to Palisade seniors,” offered Meal Site Coordinator Sheli Apodaca. “Any senior over age 60 can come and contribute at the suggested donation or less. No senior age 60 and over will be turned away because of inability to pay,” she added.
On the menu for April 7th will be Swiss Steak, au gratin potatoes, herbed green beans, and a fruit dessert. Milk and coffee are included too. Under age 60 attendees are welcome and will be charged the full price of $7.75. Gray Gourmet has been cooking and serving senior meals since 1974 and is sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital. The program produces and serves hot, nutrient dense meals for seniors at area dining sites and with its meals on wheels service for homebound seniors.
