Palisade Town Clerk, Lindsey Chitwood, announced that the Town of Palisade will be holding its municipal election on April 5th, 2016 for the purpose of selecting one (1) Mayor and two (2) members to the Town’s Board of Trustees. All seats are four year terms. The current Board of Trustees will determine if this election is to be coordinated with the Mesa County Clerk and Recorders office and conducted as a mail ballot election at an upcoming regularly scheduled Board meeting.

To be eligible to run for office you must:

  • Be a citizen of the U.S.
  • Be registered to vote
  • Be at least 18 years old on the date of the election
  • Have lived in town limits for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election

 

Serving as an effective municipal elected official requires dedication, knowledge and a substantial commitment of time.  There are countless reasons why people choose to run for public office.  No matter what your motivation or background, as a member of the municipal governing body you have the opportunity to make important contributions toward shaping the future of your community.  For this reason, becoming a municipal elected official can be a rewarding experience.

Nomination petitions will be available in the Town Clerk’s office January 5th, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. for circulation.   Nomination petitions must be filed with the Town Clerk’s Office no later than Monday, January 25, 2016 at 4:30 pm.
