The Palisade Altrusa club will have freshly picked and shelled Georgia pecans for sale for the holiday season in the second week of November.
Every year Palisade Altrusa special orders pecans from a farm in Georgia who ships the nuts directly to the club to sell as one of their major fundraisers of the year.
The nuts are handled gently, leaving most of the halves unbroken. They are delicious and wonderful for holiday baking.
Proceeds from the nut sales go to support Altrusa’s local service projects including food pantry items at the schools, help with books, supplies and sporting equipment for students, “I Like Me” books given to all the kindergarteners, Christmas food and gifts compiled from a list of local families in need from the Salvation Army.
Palisade Altrusa also sponsors the Little Free Library in the Independent Park gazebo, the Make a Difference Day Book Giveaway, and “Cup of Warmth” soup before the Olde Fashioned Christmas parade.
The nuts will be available from any Altrusa member and at the Palisade Chamber of Commerce for $13 for a one-pound bag. Chocolate covered pecans are also available.
If you would like more information about Altrusa, the pecans, or to put in an order, please call 464-5021.
