The Grand Junction Rockies and the Palisade Chamber of Commerce have designated Wednesday night, August 13th, as Peach Night at the GJ Rockies, with the mayor of Palisade pitching the first “peach” to start the game at Suplizio Field. The game vs. Billings starts at 7:05 p.m.
Grand Junction Rockies General Manager, Tim Ray, and Palisade Chamber Executive Director Juliann Adams, say, “August with the Palisade Peach Festival, presented by American Furniture Warehouse, and with bountiful peach crops, is the perfect time to add a Peach Night at the GJ Rockies in celebration of the best peaches in the world and of those who grow them.”
Special recognition will be given to Skip Doty, long time loyal Grand Junction Rockies supporter and valley peach grower and owner of Early Morning Orchards.
Tim says,“Skip is certainly someone who deserves to be honored and we feel our Peach Night at the GJ Rockies is the time to do so.”
It’s everything peachy at this fun and special event with peach margaritas, peach ice cream and what’s a GJ Rockies ball game without a Wienerschnitzel hot dog–and, YES, there’s a way to add a peachy touch to the game food favorite. Wienerschnitzel will be adding to their condiment choices peach salsa and peach relish!
Mini Farmer’s Market
The peach will definitely have a strong presence at the Mini Farmer’s Market. The Peach fun continues with a Peach Eating Contest, A Peach Race with the hotdog, catsup, mustard and peach characters racing towards victory, plus a Peach Pit Game: guess the number of peach pits in the jar. Winners will receive prizes!
A special commemorative T-Shirt celebrating The First Annual Palisade Peach Night at the GJ Rockies Game, will be available in limited quantities for $5.00. A pre-purchase ticket price of $7.00 is available for purchase only at the Palisade Chamber, 319 S. Main St.
