POWDERHORN MOUNTAIN RESORT ANNOUNCES EARLY OPENING FOR 50th ANNIVERSARY SEASON
Natural Snowfall and Expanded Snowmaking Contribute to Resort’s Early Open Preview Weekends

Powderhorn Mountain Resort is announcing an early opening preview weekends on Saturday, December 3rd & Sunday, December 4th, and Saturday December 11th & Sunday, December 12th, 2016 marking one of the earlier opening days in the resort’s history and a welcome start to the 50th Anniversary Season.

The combination of significant snowfall in the region over the last two days and favorable snowmaking conditions have allowed for the early opening. PMR completed expanded snowmaking infrastructure in Summer, 2015 which doubled the on-hill snowmaking capabilities. The snowmaking expansion was a part of Powderhorn’s $5 million capital improvement project which also included the installation of a new high-speed quad lift, the Flat Top Flyer.

“We couldn’t ask for a better kick off to our 50th Anniversary season,” states Sam Williams, general manager of PMR. “We’ve had great snowmaking temps and mother nature showed up with two feet of snow over the last two days. Everyone from the instructors at the Ski & Ride Center to the Guest Services crew is thrilled to welcome back our winter customers.”

To celebrate the early opening preview weekend PMR will offer limited-time special pricing. Children six and under will receive a free lift ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket. Adult lift tickets will be $49, Junior tickets are $24, Youth and Senior Tickets are $41, and 75+ Tickets are $26. Preview weekends pricing is valid only for December 3rd & 4th and 11th & 12th.

The Flat Top Flyer and EZ Rider lifts will be open from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday with select terrain availability. The West End and Tubing Hill lifts are slated to open at a later date.

The Sunset Bar & Grill, Rental Shop, and Ski & Ride Center will be open during the preview weekend with regular operating hours.

The resort will be open for full operations starting December 15, and lift ticket prices will move to regular season pricing of $71 for a full-day adult lift ticket.
