Mike & Cindy McDermott of SunCrest Orchard Alpacas, near Palisade, began coordinating the Fiber Art Show held during the Peach Festival every August since 2009. Last year the show saw a sharp decline in participants.  “August is just too hot to think of warm clothing,” McDermott said.

McDermott, Julia Durmaj, and Patty Jenson, all members of the Alpaca Association, approached the Palisade Chamber of Commerce about moving the show to the fall.

The result is the First Annual Quilt and Fiber Art Festival.  It will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th, at Memorial Park in Palisade. There will be animals, live music, food, crafters and artists and demos. We are looking for more vendors.
