A number of citizens have taken advantage of the invitation by the Town of Palisade to upgrade or replace the sidewalks in front of their homes this fall. While the town ordinance states that homeowners are responsible for 50% of any repair or replacement of sidewalks on their property, the Town has recently been able to take over more than half of the cost, offering homeowners a chance to upgrade at just 25% of the cost, with the Town paying 75%.
Although the town encourages citizens to upgrade and maintain their sidewalks, the current effort is strictly voluntary.
Homeowners can contact Public Works Director Frank Watt to get on the list for next year as the 2016 budgeted amount for sidewalk repairs has now been spent.
