The Town of Palisade has partnered with Palisade High School to offer a community fundraiser for the new Skate Park project, which is currently wrapping up with the design phase.  As the Town began planning for the new park PHS students asked to be involved and set a goal to raise $3,000 for the project.  Art teacher, Lori Raper, was also very eager to get her students involved because she wanted to showcase more local art in the public parks.

Students from the IB and advanced art program will be volunteering their time to teach two separate Tile Painting classes at PHS.  The first of the sessions will take place in the art room on Tuesday, Feb 21st at 6:00 PM.  Registration is $30.00 per person, which includes all supplies and all proceeds will go towards the park project.  The deadline to sign up for the first class is Feb 15th

Community members will have the opportunity to learn painting techniques and create their own unique piece that will later be added into the permanent design of the new park, located off of Kluge and 7th streets.  Tiles will be six inch squares and will be incorporated into the park as a border under some of the ramps, and the artwork will face outward towards the street and the Memorial Park playground so everyone can enjoy the local designs.

The second session of Tile Painting will take place on Thursday, March 16th, also at 6:00 PM at PHS.  For more information on the project or to register, please call the Town of Palisade at 464-5602.
